One of the pleasures of this autumn has been the presence of the barred owls, always partially hidden, always fascinating. It's the facial expressions and grandeur that make me smile.

69th street is always holiday colorful.
Treats for the birds, a mix of peanut butter and fat plus a secret ingredient that squirrels don't like. The sparrows have learned how to cling.

Yellowbelly sapsucker loves this tree. Swiss cheese tree now. It perched here drilling and calling for hours. Pointedly beautiful and funny.
