Who's that?

I sometimes meet the nicest creatures in the park. This time I did all the talking.

In the corner, tap tap tap... yellow bellied sapsucker.

Yesterday afternoon

Very surprised to see sunflowers flopped over onto the ground and not birds interested in seeds. Loads of bugs coming out of grass. Again no birds.

On other side of garden I heard the male towhee. Well hidden in bushes but doing a "talk" routine. I've got better towhee pictures, but this was different. Almost impossible for clear view pictures.

In the garden

Lots of activity, but not all photograph worthy.  Lots of juncos. None willing to sit for pictures. White throated sparrows, the same. The hermit thrush was fairly calm.

A one-second winter wren.

The sunflowers are in blossom. Happy bees.

I'm waiting for sunflower seeds to dry. The finches will arrive to gorge. Not today. Just bees.

The cooler weather sights

Cautious thrasher.

The grackles are so smart, but haven't figured out yet that dunking an acorn won't soften it up.

Immature robin. Didn't expect to see this so late in the season. Must have been  a late nestling

From end of September. Body flexibility of a tiny force.

Hard to get wren, flitting in corners

                       It's not nesting season but pigeons were doing a hoochy kootchy dance.

I don't see a white crowned sparrow often.
