Nest diary

Another nest across the street. Action will be visible, but not for another two weeks, maybe three.

Dove baby hard to see, but check profiles when dove facing right.

Pampered

A year ago one of the robins incorporated Covid masks into her nest.  This time there's a diaper nest. Kids are going to be pampered.

From the 24th

There could be babies any day now in the blue jay house

There is one baby in the dove house. Good nest. Tiny baby.

Well hidden, haven't seen the babies yet.
Territorial declaration.  No sharing in the fountain.

More garden activity

The bluejay nest is definitely in use. There could be a hatch in about 8 days.

Dove on the light box.  Can't tell what's going on yet. Good location with ivy cover.
I wish this pair would become a family.
The grackle is hanging around because there's food.

Very skittish flicker. Can't get closer.

Flicker really knows how to pick a resting spot. Total blend of tree/ blossoms/ bird.

And speaking of blend, the perfect robin nest is almost totally obscured by leaves.

Yesterday I posted on     The Opera Lenz.

Home construction

Big clue here.   Someone is into new home construction. Watch, wait, follow the flight path.

Perfect location, well hidden, nest being shaped. Well protected.

Robins have to bulk up. Child raining is hard work. They'll all be skinny by august.
A block away the leaves are filling in to protect this nest.

The regulars

These nice red seeds won't last very long, a cardinal favorite.

                                                              Dove primping time.
                                                             I wish they'd start a nest.

There is one dove nest on the light fixture across the way
I have no idea where this food will get delivered to.

                                                         Shaggy white throated sparrow.
                                                       Ideal sparrow nest, house sparrows.
Perfect spring appearance of a white throated sparrow.
