Fancy condo

Daniel Webster statue in the park,West Drive at 72nd street.  First thing I saw were the sparrow mating at the base.
 

Check the hand, the elbow, the shoe.... affordable fancy housing.  Sparrows have good taste.

Backyard

Sometimes behavior really catches my eye. Young starling looking for food, but wobbling around. Right leg not right. Should I intercede? Can bird get food? Can bird fly?  Yes to all. Crippled leg, possibly from nesting stage. Surviving. Doing what it needs to do. Don't intercede.
 

Fuzzy is still in this space able to take care of his own needs.  But yelling for food when parent is nearby.

Strange things

Wait a minute!   This is West End Avenue. A Northern water thrush. This bird needs a stream, not an avenue.  It visited for one afternoon.
 

First reaction to seeing this adult robin was "What the hell"????  But I've seen this before. Not sick. Molting.  I've seen molting cardinals this early.  Goofy looking bird doing  normal behavior on a hot day, taking in the sun, aerating.  But robin still looks like Disney Presents.

                                                           I've only seen this robin once.

Young Bluejays

 I have not seen or heard juvenile bluejays. Also not seen scattered little feathers or evidence of death. I'm also not seeing the adult jays, so I assume they've pulled a disappearing act.  These are juvenile bluejays from my archive from previous years.  I'll keep searching. Hope springs eternal.

The jays

  I think fledge is long past due. I have no idea what these jays are up to. I can see two tiny beaks. Their behavior is the same, check for safety, bring food to nest, share food. I know what should be, but isn't happening. Very strange.
