Fun in the garden

This was a berry nice afternoon. Pluck and eat, or rip berry apart and eat.  Young female cardinal.
The hermit thrush
Hungry robin
Even the white throat sparrow was eating the berries.
Plucky starling
The kinglets go for bugs. At least a dozen kinglets were flitting around in the grass, ruby crowned kinglets
And the winter wren, also bugging in the grass. Easy to find in tall grass. Just look for tail.

October baby

I never expected to see this in October, a cardinal baby still calling for food.  This is early summer behavior.
I've heard the call for food for several days, persistent. This was the first day I've actually seen this cute kid.
Lots of baby fluff still.
Papa looks for food non-stop for his child.
The hermit thrush is an expected visitor in the fall.  There have been a few in the garden.

In the garden at 600mm

Down to the garden with lens set at 600mm, shooting through construction mesh as robins come to drink and bathe, so gentle.
House sparrows, also soft and gentle unless there's a territorial face-off
The starling walked by.. a bit close for a 600mm setting
The best, one hungry female black-and-white warbler, more interested in grub than me.
Ever walk on the side of a tree?
