Saturday's magic

Every trip to the park starts with a question mark.  What will be seen?  Fingers crossed. Please let there be hummers.  Despite fewer jewelweed blossoms my prayer was answered. Hummers at the blossoms and grosbeaks eating the seeds.
I was strolling with another birder when we came to a space where there were no blossoms. Out of nowhere a hummer flew in. What follows will probably be once in my lifetime.  Hummer spied a spider's web with a trapped bug. The images speak for themselves. Bug-dining hummer.
To my "partners in beauty",(you know who you are), I'm thrilled that you can see such magic, and that this magic happened on first day back.

Wanted

This is what I hope to see today.
But, if no hummers I'll settle for berry/apple eating mockers.

Skipped sweets

Surely popcorn tastes better.
Stump cradle
The water thrush, mmmm worm.
A veery
It started to drizzle so I went under the tree. So did the red eye vireo, me for shelter, vireo for berries.
Food hunting flicker.
Images from September 4th.
