The Mocker
My neighbor across the street was explaining that the yellow magnolia tree was rare in the city. Pink and white frequent, but not yellow.
Out of the corner of my eye I saw something walking down the sidewalk. A mockingbird. Walking?
Taking stroll. To where? Why? Easy. Flower planter with water at its base. Time for a sip.
Mocker knew I was watching and loving this. Total cooperation.
Then into the bushes for a photo session.
Up higher for a brilliant serenade as only a mocker can do. Songs and car horn honks,
Back down in the bushes before flying north.
