It's spring... tra, la

It's migration time, but I'm not going to go chasing birds. If something decides to pass my way that will be lovely. The palm warbler wagged tail and passed through the leaves. A charmer.
The two second yellow rump warbler.
Lucky gorgeous, the blue headed vireo
The bye bye blue headed vireo
And the gorgeous screaming male red-winged blackbird.
So glad it didn't rain today.

How sweeeeet it was

Today was a perfect day,.. warm, clear, "birdy". Lots of pictures to post eventually.  Cardinal nest. It's that time of year, but because it was warm Mama didn't stay on her nest. She was nearby looking for food. Her nest is well hidden.
Before she got to food Papa appeared, same quest. Food hunt.
More cardinal images will get posted.
I met Alvin, very cooperative chipmunk, not your usual well hidden chippy.  Note those pouches. He's got a great set-up,- places to hide, places to get the sun, a place to bathe if he's interested. And lots of available food.

My secret garden

Slightly different. It is what I see in my mind's eye.

Bird Book PR talk

Last night we gave a bird book PR talk at the Wild Bird Fund of New York. Good audience of informed bird people and one surprise.  Domestic muscovy.  My friend Steve Sherman said he's heard of papering a house, but feathering a house?, that's a first.  I would love to talk to a full house of ducks. This is Sienna.

Assorted bits

Had nuts. Attracted small birds.  Polite chickadee.
Gorgeous male cardinal
Patient blue jay
Very well nourished female mallard
Doing what comes naturally- nibble, nibble.
When there's a pause in my posting it means I'm very busy doing opera work with no time to go out with birding lens.

Hanging around

This fat robin is hanging out downstairs with the resident sparrows.
Yummy concoction at the feeders, downy attractive.
Bufflehead, more underwater than above the surface.
Gorgeous white throated sparrow. Next time I'll bring some seeds.
