The light box

Every year the doves nest on the light box.  Every morning I check to see if there's any activity. Never expected this.  Dove on box seeming to check out the size.

Suddenly a second dove arrives. What's going on up there.? No sign of twigs or eggs.
All of a sudden there are three doves. Checking out the accommodations? Have they lived here before?

Have they had a family here before?
                                                            They know I'm watching.

Two of the doves fly up to the balcony on the fourth floor.
This seems to be the boss dove.  For the last 48 hours nobody has been on the light fixture. To be continued.

Talky talky in the garden

Lots of songs in the west end of the garden. Visiting mocker singing everything. No clear view, branches in the way.

Mocker totally aware of camera lens, but not afraid.

In between singing I saw that mocker was ejecting something, not in pellet form. Hard to captured. This happens in one second.

Finally a clear view. I suspect that mocker had been down by the river, snatched a piece of bait, fish, and its body was rejecting it.  I've seen them snatch "food", but never the ejecting in non-pellet form.

This didn't distress the mocker at all. This was a 45 minute photo op before mocker flew off and headed west I hope not for more fish bait.

Half hour in the garden

Cardinal couple.  I saw him feed her but this was in the bushes, no clear view.

Male robin sat in one spot for a good 20 minutes. Maybe weighed down by food.

I haven't seen any female robins, but that will change soon.

Busy garden space

The male robins were facing off. The big brawl was at my feet, too close for pictures.

I had put out a few nuts for the titmice. The robin ate them all. More convenient than worms I guess.

Sparrow gang bang. The female held her own, no interest.

Uncooperative titmice. More interested in seed bits. There were at least titmice feeding.

I hope the grackles stick around, stunningly beautiful.

An hour in the garden

Totally uncooperative titmice picking in the leaves for bits of invisible food.

The male robins got into a face-off right at my feet, too close to photograph.  Fierce.

I put out peanuts for the titmice. The male robin ate them up.

This started out calmly but turned into a potential gang-bang. Female fought off the males.
