These are all from May 4th. Nice development.

Did double take

I saw the bit of red, but the leaves were also orange/red. With the 600mm lens I could watch and wait. Perfection, the male cardinal. He stared. I stared.

Another color blend around the corner, mourning dove incubating.  Brown on brown. Easy to miss.

Yummy

Bugs and worms are on the menu. And keeping babies warm. It's too cold.

So far the nestlings are not poking their beaks above the nest rim to watch the world. They only come up for food.

Always growing

Oh, fun. Parents keeping babies warm and well fed.

One eye beginning to open.

The covid mask nest.

These were shot with a Canon R10 and a 18-400mm zoom. I don't really like this gear. It fits me like slightly uncomfortable shoes.

Hatchlings

I brought organic blueberries and placed them below leaves. Parent robin was on them in three seconds. Robins don't like raspberries, but they love blueberries and mulberries. Mother feeding babies.
Two hatchlings. Eyes not yet open but know what to do when food gets delivered. They swallow blueberries down the hatch. There could be a third hatchlings. There were three eggs that would hatch in the same order they were laid. Sometimes not all hatch.

Father at nest.

This is the father, note darker head and darker breast feathers.
It got grey and drizzly. Parent sits on nest to protect  babies.  This the mama on nest.
Well hidden dove on her nest.
Incubation time. The covid mask nest. Not easy viewing for family, but great for masks.  Hatchlings in maybe 17 days.

Further garden reports

The dove has usurped the robin's nest location. First tie ever.

Resident male finch on a fly-by.

White throated sparrow hidden in the bushes.

I don't know who delivered bread that starling grabbed. Robin wanted some. No sharing.

Wren is in same trees finding goodies, hard to capture.

Hooray! another robin's nest incorporating covid masks, not the first time.
