It was cool yesterday, but there were signs that spring has arrived.

Stop! Hold that pose!

I have a hard time photographing birds in flight. It's NOT easy. A lady came along with a loaf of bread and that drew the gull population. Good chance to practice. Next time I'll try getting them from the front. Sometimes you just have to grab what shows up in your face.

I love to meet a grackle face-to-face. I talk. Grackle listens. I talk more. Grackle listens and watches. I talk. Grackle yells back.

Still building

I waited a while at the nest site and was just about to leave when over my head I heard a swoosh. There was Papa hawk. He checked the nest, then went to gather padding materials, brought same to nest, departed for points east. While watching and admiring I had pal squirrel by my shoes, totally unconcerned about any potential attack from above.

Weird "birds"

As breeding season approaches the bird colors are noticeably brighter. Hmmm...... lots to observe.
