One tree

One tree near West 69th street, a photo op.
One kinglet, one yellow rump, one shy redbelly woodpecker.  That kind of makes it easy to get pictures, focus on one at a time.  The most difficult is the tiny kinglet flitting all over the place.
Kinglet morphed into a yellow rump
Back to golden crowned kinglet
Redbelly gets into act, knows I'm there, flirt time.
Back to kinglet
I could have stood and watched for another hour, but my arms were getting tired.  There will be more chance on another day. It's a good tree. Lots of bugs.

Searching

Just one of those days. I'm going to find a kinglet.  Kinglets, kinglets, where are you?
A titmouse is fine.
More yellowrumps, also fine.
Wow!  Super bird, carolina wren preening. This can be the "high" for the day.
Never did find a kinglet. Maybe tomorrow.......

Quiet Saturday

Quiet Saturday. Few warblers. There seemed to be more birders than birds.
Everyone is eating berries.
Sweet chickadee after bugs.
Observation two ways with hermit
Blue-headed vireo
Must be autumn, brown creeper down on West End Avenue.

More littles

Mostly little birds shagging bugs....... there's an area for titmice, and phoebes, and yellow rumps.
One kinglet.
The palms coexist with the yellow rumps just fine.
This was a surprise. First time I've used flash-on-camera, a tree-full of bees.
Duck-weed gobbling goose.

Here's a hoot

At about 3pm Jean e-mailed: Owl in the park!  I grabbed the camera and ran. Work would just have to wait.
Owls know how to take cover.  Sweet long-eared owl surrounded on all sides by leaves, branches, tree trunk.   Visibility almost nil. Blue jays screaming angrily.   I do love peek-a-boo birds. Non-light. Images shot at ISO 1000.  No flash!
