Dove nest

From July 25th, first time I spotted this dove nest. A bunch of twigs thrown together = home.
Add some leaves and it's cozy.
From July 26th. Oh my God, that's not an adult dove. Very narrow space for viewing. What's going on up there?
A baby is what's going on up there, FuzzWuzz, well hidden.  Lots of poop for one kid.  That's the dove's idea of housekeeping.
Keep watching.

In the garden

When it's hot sit and ant. We've got choice cozy spots for this activity which helps keep the birds' wings clean.

And then it's bath time.

Starling cluster keep cool.

Starling portraits

When it's hot the birds sit with mouths open. That's how they aerate, but they sure do look like an odd-ball choir.
Onto the scene one young robin with mulberry
Fantastic profile, molting starling. Looks like a cartoon.

Too hot

Too hot to be out with camera. I'd melt. Camera would fog up. This mockingbird has the right idea. Keep hydrated.

Down by the River

Too hot to spend lots of time outside. Down by the river the young goslings are growing into adults.
I suspect someone has been eaten.
Feather stuck on sparrow. Not easy to bathe off.

Something different

This was a first, resident squirrel marking territory.
Then he ran up tree and ate bark.
There are still mulberries up in the tree.
Too hot to work hard
