Some days are relatively calm. I didn't see any warblers or wrens, but it was a very nice day. There are lots of juvenile starlings gathered in packs. They are so easy to spot,.. brown baby heads and incoming adult body feathers and they are bratty,- assertive, argumentative, piggy, and I love them.
When I first began birding I didn't know about cowbirds and how they lay their eggs in other birds' nests. A very well informed birder asked me if I knew the cowbird's call. I shook my head no. So he taught me, "MOO!" Now I watch for cowbirds, because they make me smile.
And it wasn't just birds today. The mastiff was too beautiful not to photograph.
