The dove family

Doves mate for life.  As I walked in the door I saw them mating in the back garden. Too late to get pictures. I decided to observe. Behavior. Preening each other is gentle and so lovely. Doves (and pigeons) can't clean their own faces, heads, breasts. The mate does it.

While watching movement caught my eye lower down by the rocks. Oh my goodness, their kids. Two adorable youngsters maybe two weeks out of the nest.  To be continued.
