There's a robins' nest somewhere nearby. Can't find it. The parents fly the shells away from nest. They don't want any obvious sign of their home in case danger flies by. |

Suddenly a skittish flicker flew down. They never immediately start pecking in the soil. They check for any danger from above. |
The red patch on back of head is like a target for an attacker. |
Very careful. Flicker knew I was there. I didn't dare move one inch closer. |
