Another cigarette story

 

I was in the lobby and happened to look out the window. The doves didn't see me. I would never have been able to get this close if I had been outside.  Two young doves with their parents. The babies seriously noticed something orange, cigarette butts. This was worth investigating. Was this food?  Absolutely not. The parent came running, checked it out. Not food!!! Made it clear to the kids that this was not food. They got the message and moved away to spend quality time with the parent.  I've only seen this dove protective behavior once.

                                                        Looked, but never  ate it.
