Nutty experiment

For a change I brought cashew nuts to the park to see if the birds and/or squirrels would like them. Huge success. The cashews vanished as fast as they were delivered.

The squirrel stayed nearby. As it chewed I noticed it was eating differently. It wasn't until I saw the pictures that I could figure out what was going on. This squirrel has a cleft palate.

The cashews must have been much easier for this squirrel to eat. It ate nine. Hooray for cashews!
