Chowing down

All sorts of things on the ground finding food bits. I like low-down birds, easier on the neck muscles. Chipping sparrow. The flicker is usually skittish, so it was exciting to be able to hide behind a tree and watch this beauty bug-hunt. The feather pattern provides cover......
...... except for back of head "target". If a hawk sees this flicker is a goner.

Another great blend, the fox sparrow.

This came as a surprise, 69th street and Central Park West, late afternoon. I have no idea which red tail this is. Definitely on food patrol. Last seen heading towards Strawberry Field.
