| At 9:30 this morning a female oriole attacked the hummer and her nest, grabbed the two eggs and ate them. Birders who saw this reported that they could see the baby birds in shell were viable, probably due to hatch soon. This happened very fast. There is probably an oriole nest nearby. Sometimes nature is cruel and heartbreaking. I came along having been alerted to this tragedy at about 11am. Mama flew back to the nest. |
