Oh, there's one. Near the wall separating park from street. But there are still voices calling.
There's the loudest caller. Fuzz Wuzz, the youngest baby in the class.
Fuzz Wuzz on branch resting. Two slightly older kids on the ground looking for food. No sign of parents. I decided to stay and watch.
After about 20 minutes parent started calling from nearby tree. Fuzz Wuzz called back. Try getting a picture of a baby robin "talking". Not easy.
Wait a minute. Somebody is above. Another juvenile. A bit older. Looking at berries.
And underneath, another juvenile
And underneath, another juvenile
Fuzz Wuzz is coming to alertness, something other than sitting like a helpless blob.
Meanwhile, other juveniles are finding berries on the ground, ripe berries fallen from bush. Easy pickings.
Well now,.... Fuzz Wuzz has gotten act together, also on ground looking for food. Functional baby? Can only watch and see.
Still calling parent.
Fuzz Wuzz sees something. Oh my goodness, a worm! It didn't walk there by itself. Probably dropped there by another robin.
And surprise of surprises, Fuzz Wuzz wolfs it down solo.
Once again, overhead the more mature robin. I'll keep clicking and maybe get the nanosecond that it grabs and swallows a berry. It's going to be a lunge-catch, because all berries by its face have already been plucked.
Success!!!!!
There are many more robin pictures, but these are enough for this posting. I watched for almost an hour, fascinated by the different levels of activity in this kindergarten. No parents for the longest time, which means there's another nest situation. From the robins I went down and saw the goslings. Babies and more babies.
