Finally

At last the sweet small birds are starting to show up at the feeding stations, far fewer than in previous Decembers, but at least it's a start. The coconut husks have peanut butter mash in them, a big attraction for, on this day, the chickadees and the downy woodpecker.

I heard the tufted titmouse before seeing it. There was a lot of calling back and forth. Hopefully there will be more than this one noisy charmer.

All the small birds have to be alert, because in one fly-by a cooper's hawk can snatch an easy meal. Cooper's hawk pictures coming tomorrow.
