Blue, Black-red, Brown- red

The bluejays found a nesting material lode under a tree stump. Three jays were working the stump, collecting, passing twigs on, couldn't care less that I was watching.
Can't help laughing at the redwing blackbird.  Screamer!
Surprisingly gorgeous "underwear".

A nice spring mix

Near the  Falconer loads of sparrows, at least 30 chippies.
Mixed in with the chippies one field sparrow.
Blue headed vireo. I stood under the tree and waited.
The singing drew me to the yellow rump. Sweet song.

Saturday fun

He who stands and waits eventually sees something. The parula arrived. I didn't breathe. It stayed about three seconds before heading north.
This was a first, mating cowbirds. I wonder where the eggs will end up.  They will go into someone else's nest.

Someone scattered corn bits. Mrs. and Mr. Towhee were delighted.
My favorite for the day, little brown bat sleeping in Mugger's Woods.

Savannah

Yellow "eye brows", that's what caught my attention. Two very different sparrows in amongst a group of chippies. I didn't know what they were until later on when another birder identified the savannah sparrows from the pictures. Gorgeous bird. There was no getting closer. I moved. They moved.  This was a first on my bird list.
