Looking up

Branch picking time over Strawberry Field. Hard to get focus through trees. Serious activity, home construction.
This could be for San Remo nest.
Also in the home construction business, West End Avenue.
Also looking up, but not for home construction. This is food protection behavior, danger from above??  Grackle sure looks funny. No danger in sight.

Watching behavior and details

Beauty on the way to the park
Lunch for Mama
Mama!
I love being eyeballed by the nuthatch
Redwing picked up more than it bargained for
Having conversation with blue jay
Ah, a low down palm warbler
Jeez,  there's a spy in the neighborhood.

A little variety

The prairie warbler is still in town, lots of bugs and seeds available.
Its song is exquisite
Female towhee
Male towhee in the dead leaves
Chipping sparrow with nesting material
Humans aren't the only ones to watch birds

Termites

Warm weather, dead log, termites. I saw the termites airborne and robins, sparrows, starlings gorging on the sidewalk. Time to follow the trail. The termites were coming from my favorite huge log now mostly hidden by overgrowth. I'll have to dig out pictures of log-burst from past years, usually in May. If there are birds they will come to feast. Both the palm warbler and the yellow rump were dining.
Brown thrasher won't miss an easy meal
Working under the log as usual, the flicker
Pleasant surprise, the wood thrush showed up for termite meal
Not a nice surprise nearby,  most likely raided from a nest, obviously not a fallen egg.
