Out of the nest

The day begins with sun hitting nest from East. It's hot downstairs. Steamy.
Papa dove has an idea.
Walks over baby and right out of nest.
That's a lesson.. Kids are excited.

Papa walked. Ar ewe supposed to do the same thing?
So they did, walked out of the nest. They can fly, but walking is easier.
More pictures to follow. The outside world presents challenges. Parents will be feeding the kids for a while.

Dove progress

After hatching baby doves are in the nest 12-14 days. The growth and development is very fast.
Behind in ground adult doves are hunting for seeds from dry mulberries.
Morning light. It's hot in this spot.
In back garden young doves find safety under bushes. Shot through lobby window.
Also in back garden, male finch. Shot through lobby window. Glare from glass. Finch sees reflection of garden, not me.

Two kids, no question about it. Crowded poopy nest.

Dove nest, next chapter

Big baby and an awful lot of poop for only one baby. Hours of watching.
Young dove on ground feeding on seeds. No blue eye ring yet.

Immature female finch at fountain, sweet bit of head fluff.
About 7:34p.m.   My eyes didn't see this, but the camera did. There are two sets of little eyes watching me. Two babies!  Eyes and rumps. And that accounts for all the poop.
To be continued
