May bits

Sure sign of nest building, shaping the muddy nest.
Don't forget to eat.
Back to construction collecting
Obviously this robin already has nestlings.
Checking out nesting material
Squirrel nest arranging
Male cardinal talking to female
Higher above the male black throated blue warbler
                                                                       Bye bye birdie

The red post

Some NY birds are extraordinarily trusting . This redbelly woodpecker knows where the friends ar.
                                                        So does the fearless cardinal.

Back to May 15th

Uncooperative male common yellow throat on the run
Posing magnolia warbler
Do your daily exercises.... redwing blackbird
the water thrush
flicker at potential nest hole
flicker on ground bugging
I'll  toggle  back and forth, daily excitement and birds in park in May.

Feather loss

I've seen this feather loss pattern around eyes before, but on a grackle. Named him Mad Eye Moody. Saw this cardinal in rear garden in the morning.
Never expected this, front garden, mid- afternoon, a woebegone female cardinal. Early molt? genetic? lack of proper vitamins? No idea. She appears otherwise healthy, but she sure looks prehistoric. She flew in for bath in our little fountain three times. Bath followed by preening in the tree above. Faced off with bratty sparrows.
Around the corner these were parked in the corner. My brain registered FLAMINGOS. Just what we need in the garden.
