Halloween past

It's not possible to go into the park today. Falling branches. This is a good opportunity to dig back into the files, Halloween time, 2003.  No labels necessary.  Different time. Different camera. Different mind-set.

From my window

My server was down until about 30 minutes ago.  The images on the TV news are totally depressing. We really got whammied.  I stayed home and shot from my window. No flooding on the 18th floor.

The first bang was the fall of the big tree downstairs.  The cardinal family loved this tree.
The kids loved the power of the wind, a new experience for them.
Dog walking. Not fun.
The local firehouse was kept busy all day and night.
Night lights.
I have been down in the garden today and have seen loads of starlings plucking berries, pigeons, robins, sparrows, one sapsucker and one brown creeper.

Pre-storm

Maintenance Meadow,  swell male towhee.
Headed west and heard jays screeaming. Something way up in a tree. Hard to see.  Finally found the anger source, a cooper's hawk.  Eventually it flew south west, but the jays kept screaming.
Searched more. Oh my, a second cooper's in same tree. When it flew out it headed east. Then there was silence.
Bug hunting titmouse
Finally... my favorite at this time of year, the kinglet.

More kinglets

Before getting to the park I've got to stroll down Halloween Alley.
Finally flitting kinglets.
Still waiting for a lawn covered with dining kinglets.

Outtakes

The challenge of getting the kinglet is enough to make a photographer crazy.  The flitsky bird.
Along comes the yellow rump perfectly contented to pose for a portrait.
