Everything is special

The sparrows love gorging on these seeds
This is a very young male house sparrow, notice breast feathers.
Of course anything is edible even sticky popcorn.
This is also a house sparrow, leucistic, meaning very pale. This is the first time I've seen such a sparrow.
Icon pretty at this time of year.   I was watching for hummers, got this instead.

The sweet young bluejay

This young bluejay was watching sparrows fight over food. The dappled lighting in the trees made for fun effects.
The bluejay watched me too. No desire to get involved with the sparrows. Sweet juvenile.
In another space the cat bird was anting. Hot humid day. Let it all hang out.

Backyard nest in the drizzle

Shooting through lobby window, rain, bad light,  not easy to shoot. I saw the parent arrive at nest and two little heads popped up. I suspected there were babies in this nest. They're well along in development.  Difficult to get pictures. Yucky day.

Another favorite

When the jewel weed comes into blossom chances are that the grosbeaks will also arrive. They love the seeds of the jewel weed. This female grosbeak was dining in another space. Small pretty bird.
Also in the space a female black-and-white warbler worked the trees, always hard to photograph.

One hummer

Finally a hummer possibility. I decided to focus on the blossom and pray. There was only one angle for watching and waiting. Not an ideal spot, but hummers like the cardinal flowers.  I'll keep trying. These are the first for summer 2019.

A few surprises

Walked a lot. Didn't see a lot until I headed over to the berry tree area. The young catbird is almost always there.
Total surprise. The cedar waxwings flew in. I heard them before I saw them.

The biggest surprise was this one second young female chestnut sided warbler. I wish it had stayed longer. It was there and then it wasn't.
The cardinals are always solid arrivals especially when I have peanut bits.
