Delicious

Springtime is eye-candy time. Colors, shapes... nature art.
And then there are the male robins here to build up their bulk for the coming breeding season.
Off to the market. Need some spaghetti.

More in the garden

I had an hour between assignments, grabbed camera and went downstairs. In one second robin yanked out wad of dry grass and gobbled down lunch.
In the other space the robins were catching bugs in the air. Now that's an activity to try and capture photographically. I could see the bugs, but freezing the snatch was impossible. The robins' expressions speak for themselves.
I figure the starlings were not starving, because they were relatively civil around this NY bagel, no proprietary fights.
In the back garden one sweet dove resting in fir tree.
And then I had to get back to work.

Right downstairs

Right downstairs in the garden, brown creeper working the bark.

Friskies, etc.

We've got a flock of male robins downstairs in the garden. They come first. Females later.
I wasn't sure if this squirrel was alive. The tail was flapping in the breeze. I've only seen flapping tails on dead squirrels.
Alive. Napping in the sun, phew!
Young having a romp. Mixing it up.

The regulars

On the lookout for migrating birds, but so far those I've seen are in impossible photo locations. The "regulars" do me fine. This is the magic walk, nuthatch. Upside down lunch.
I decided to do an experiment, crumple plastic bag in my pocket and see if anyone would notice. Everyone noticed.
This sweetie caught its own food. Chomp!
The food line.
Food! Food! Come and get it! Sassy piece of work.

To the point

It's getting to be worm-hunt time. I don't know what kind of pressing issues this robin has been into. Before following the worm trail a detour to Ruffy was necessary. Still trying to get the wings.
Friends keep asking if Ruffy will find a mate. There's only one answer: whatever will be will be.
