Watching behavior

Very young sparrow not sure where to find food
Taking in the sun starling
Male sparrow at nest with food.
Young robin still calling for "room service"
If fries are dropped they will get eaten
And where there's food there are rats, more rats in the park than I've ever seen before.

Grey and a touch of Blue

Catbird anting on the rocks
Right at my feet, non-skittish starling. Maybe it spotted a hawk and froze in place, but it didn't consider my presence a threat. Totally weird behavior. Young bird, tweeny stage. It stayed put for at  least three minutes.
Also a tweeny, young grackle
Finally a bit of color, non-skittish bluejay.
There are migrating birds in town. I'm watching behavior, not trying to photograph everything.

A bit of fun

I didn't know what I was seeing, so after edit I sent Leslie Day a picture.  Milkweed beetles. Never noticed them before. Beautiful.
Also flying over the park, a cluster of whirlybirds.
Tattered swallowtail, one lost tail and a huge "bite" out of wing. Still surviving.
Decided to stop and wait at this flower. Active swallowtails.
Finally, what I was hoping to see, hummers. Hard shooting situation, but something is better than nothing.
This time I decided to focus on the blossoms and see what I'd get.
First time I've gotten two hummers in one shot.

Delicious

It's New York. If food is dropped it will be enjoyed. It's the urban way.
Wait a minute! Is that an antenna on the sparrow nest?? Urban necessity?

Summer sights

Heard the singing. Male finch downstairs, often hidden in leaves.
Fountain relief, sharing not always welcome, male vs female.
Very young sparrows now self-sufficient. Chips, not exactly most healthful food.
Absolutely not food. Live and learn.
