the Dove perch

Why should anything be easy. To get this dove I'm shooting through scaffolding mesh. I suspect there's a baby up there.
From end of garden.. yes, she's protecting something.
Back through mesh, hooray, a baby is being fed. It's mouth to mouth with doves, mother's milk.
Feeding done, baby goes back underneath.
Why should shooting be easy? Scaffold nest with mesh. Babies yet? Don't know.
Keyhole  opening, no babies yet.

Day 1

I knew this was due. Something is going on in this nest. Both parents active.
Babies!  Three!!!
There goes the fecal sac.
Papa is really checking me out. I think the babies are getting as much dirt as worms.

Just watching

Trying to do work and watch birds, not enough time for everything. Bluejays will grab anything.
Palm warbler, not to skittish
Status quo for nests downstairs, expecting hatchlings any day now.

Food

I was hoping to see a big fat worm, but that's not how it worked. Robin found a stiff worm piece. Freeze dried? Beat me.
Very pleased with that tidbit
The robins will even select found bread when they're hungry.
Careful cardinal. Am I safe? Yes!

Signs of spring

This was what I wanted to see, the palm warbler, always an early migrating bird. A couple  at the Maintenance Meadow.
The male towhee in mountain climbing mode.
Male house finch singing for a mate. I've seen the female.
Yet another robin nest, very well hidden. Trying to see is like looking through a keyhole.
