Flitting around

There's nothing easy about trying to get a portrait of a redstart, male or female. The yellow blur tells the story. Actually, I like it this way, redstart ballet.  The non-stop bird.
A real surprise. No yellow. An eastern kingbird.  Didn't expect to see this.

Keeping cool

It was hot, humid, - steamy- all the elements for watching a very young mockingbird stay cool. Of course there's also the luck of being in the right place at the right time. Normally the mockers are skittish. I don't think I'll ever see such a charming routine again.  The open mouth is a bird's way  of cooling off.

In the garden

This is the first breeding season without a low-down nest, but the nests must have been in the high trees, because the fledglings are obvious.
The beggar knows how to pick a bit on his own.
There were three kids in the bushes ... left, right and center.
Oh great,  land on the AC repair man's truck.
Picker
What's fascinating, and I've seen this before,  the fledglings are here for about four days and then they vanish.  There can be as many as ten little ones and then there are none, no signs of violence either.

A different youngster

Follow the food. Berries = berry eaters (if they're in the neighborhood).
The catbird
The cedar waxwings
This young robin knows how to relax.
Oh boy, someone different,..... a very young mockingbird.
This makes me sad-  totally feral cat.
