At the other patch

It's very hard getting eating pictures at this patch of jewelweed because hummer goes into reverse side and underneath,- eats, perches, grooms, oversees the patch, chases away intruders. I got a glimpse of the neck marking. Young male. I decided to watch non-stop. I wanted to see red, not easy. This depends on bird, angle of light, etc. I had time to wait.
Finally, young male for sure.
Underneath the blossoms two rose breasted grosbeaks were feasting on the seeds. Naturally, they were well hidden. First year females.

Hummmmm !

Right in front of the door, a gorgeous weaver.
Off to the park. Hummingbird time.  The goal was to get something I'd never gotten before, but you can't pose hummingbirds. You can only wait and hope to get something. Jewelweed patch. This female has laid claim to the turf. Any intruders are chased off. Thousands of blossoms. NO sharing tolerated.
Pollen face. I've never before seen such a mucky female, but she's packing on the calories.
To be continued.

Here for the bugs

We've got bugs in the garden. All birds welcome. Female black-throated blue warbler, female,  getting stuffed.
The apples are ripening. Pretty soon it will be me vs the birds.

More friends

Mocker looking a bit ratty on the watch for food.
Gorgeous young robin
Sipping from rock runoff
It's been a while since I've seen a female finch.
The downy also finding food
I had been watching this starling eat berries, then in one split second it spit up, back came the berry.
