The female finch

The female finch isn't as brilliantly colored as the male, but she's an equally neat muncher.

The cardinal flew into the opposite berry bush for about three seconds.

Starling trying to decided which berry to grab.

service berries

The service berry bushes are in fruit, They're edible. Taste sort of like bland blueberries. I pluck from lower branches. Male finch dines above.

Must not forget our resident flamingo in back garden.
                                             Fancy-footed pigeon strutting around.

More in the park

Collecting munchies for family, the female cardinal.

Ditto for the male, munch and save.

So happy to see the doves, lots of them. They've abandoned West End Avenue for the most part.
Redstart hanging around.  Why not. We've got delicious  bugs.

Very young sparrow who knows how to find food.
And what would the park be without resident rats

In the park

Screaming redwing blackbird, male. Hard to get. Bright background, dark bird.

In a different location the well hidden barred owl. How many pictures can you take of a sleeping owl?

Anything for food

Easy portrait session with blue jay because I served seeds. No hesitation.

As for the eagle-eyed sparrows they could see bits from a post-termite hatch.   I was surprised that they were pulling bits fro the bark similar to what woodpeckers do. I couldn't see the food, but they could.

My favorite starling

Hold still. HOLD STILL!!!!   I want to take a beautiful portrait.
Ah, that's better. My favorite bratty bird.  Mature starling.  How can such a pretty creature be such a brat.  Taken at our water fountain.
