TLC at WBF

The Wild Bird Fund is located on Columbus Avenue. People bring in birds they have found, nestlings fallen out of nests, sometimes whole nests blown out, concussed birds, etc.  There were larger birds, but I didn't want to distress them using a needed flash.  While I was there someone brought in the concussed female redstart. All birds are checked to make sure they don't have broken wings or legs. After exam they are placed in a safe box, covered to diminish fear and supplied with water and food.
The redstart was examined, then placed in the safe box, but judging by its behavior I'm not sure it would recover from being concussed.
Love the baby pigeons. They have to be hand fed, don't recognize food if it's in their faces.
The young oriole has to have its wings preened.  It doesn't know how to do that yet.
My favorite, a nest of infant wrens.
Lots of food, worms.
The WBF does wonderful work.  All financial donations welcomed.
