Down in the garden

It's been a while since I've posted... overload of work.  Gorgeous spring day in garden. The male robins are arriving, bright breasts, dark heads, plump. Stoking up for the breeding season. The females will be arriving soon.
But the most fun is the dove.  Remember the fuse box nest from last year. The robins built a perfect mud nest and had three babies. That nest survived the winter. Now the mourning doves have taken this spot. They dumped twigs on top of the old robin's nest. It's incubation time.  The doves have had a brood here in the past. Whoever arrives first gets the "apartment". It's not the best place for a dove family, because the fuse box is narrow. Fingers crossed that whoever hatches makes it to a successful fledge.
