Gobble Gobble

The migration season is over, but there are still nice birds to see. A winter wren caught my eye and I wondered what other little birds might be around. But as luck would have it it wasn't the tiny birds that presented themselves. It was the resident wild turkey. This big girl really has no fear of humans. Preening was in order. Right at my feet. Tourists stopped to gawk. Lots of expected comments,- "where's the cranberry sauce", "I'll bring stuffing", "Is it here for the Macy's Parade?" Standing and watching I was struck by the beautiful coloration and the way this bird would blend into the leaf-floor when viewed from above. A totally goofy looking, stunning creature.
