The first time I met a kinglet it was perched on my friend Josh's hat. It looked at me all wide-eyed and I fell in love. Tiny gems. They're very hard to photograph, flit all around after gnats, but they do pause and that's when it's possible to grab a picture provided there aren't leaves in the way. Sometimes I know they're there by the high pitched peep. If I can't see them at least their "talk" makes me smile.
