One dense area

It was quiet in the park yesterday. The first thing that caught my eye was this very different duck. It's been reported on another site that this is a magpie duck from Scotland. That's good. But where did it come from. There are two. They're very pretty and full-bodied.

There's one dense tree on the west side of Maintenance Meadow. Tree laden with berries. Yesterday this was a core of activity. There were other birders watching and they helped with a couple of IDs. First, the veery (which I knew).

The downy woodpecker was yanking the berries free.

The next bird I didn't know. Several birders said it's a Philadelphia vireo, rarer to the park.

Finally, one I do know, the red-eye vireo.
