Diversion

Yesterday afternoon I strolled in Central Park for a change. The first impression was the uproar of fledgling starlings demanding food from parents. They yell and yell and finally in one split second the parent jabs food into the open mouth. One mother had a great plan. She and her pesky kid stood on top of a garbage can. The kid yelled and she popped into the can, found crumbs, surfaced and fed the face. I met the robin anting, not just lying still, but actually shimmying along the ground. Must have felt good. And finally I got to the Conservatory Lake where Mama Mallard is protecting her huddle of ducklings. It was naptime, so it was hard to see the babies who were under her.
