Riverside for a day

Yesterday was the NY City Marathon, a day to definitely avoid Central Park. Down at Riverside Park there were loads of osage orange seed pods on the ground. I've been told that if you have bugs at home the pod is an excellent repellent. Cut it up into pieces and place the pieces around the apartment. No more bugs. The squirrels like to eat this fruit. It's sticky, so if they're not careful other things can get stuck to their faces. I did see thrushes and a flock of kinglets, but none photographable. I was followed by some squirrels. You can always tell when they've been digging in the dirt. The last squirrel was very possessive of his pod. Grabbed it and jumped the fence with it and every time another squirrel came near him he moved off. Those pods must be delicious. And there's no shortage of them.
